Donation to Ferst Readers from 2023 Alternative Gift Fair

The Books for a Purpose chapter at Westminster raised over $250 during the 2023 Alternative Gift Fair! 100% of the proceeds went to Ferst Readers, our nonprofit community partner based in Madison, GA that provides books to underserved children and families.

Weeks of preparation went into planning and creating items to sell at the Alternative Gift Fair. Members of the club created handmade bookmarks, prepared hot chocolate kits, and baked Christmas-themed brownies to raise money for Ferst Readers. Other items sold were multiple types of decorative candles.

So far, Books for a Purpose has donated over $500 to Ferst Readers, and we look forward to expanding our impact in the future!

Ferst Readers, established in 1999, is a nonprofit organization that aims to address the problem of low-income children entering school without basic early literacy skills and school readiness. More information about Ferst Readers can be found on their website at https://ferstreaders.org/.
